Forum of The Week #3: Offspring
Once again, I apologize for your waiting, and I want to say thanks for your patience. This week I want to share and know your opinion about ‘offspring’ or ‘descendant’. Or in simpler words, for parents to have their own children.
I want to share about the condition in my place. After discussing about ‘virginity’ and ‘marriage’, this topic is also a ‘hot’ one to talk about. A couple here is expected to have children after their marriage, and if I may say, as soon as possible. If in 2 years the wife doesn’t get pregnant, sometimes the society see the woman as a barren or sterile wife, can’t has a child. Even it might be not the wife’s condition (maybe her husband is the one), but many men decide to leave his ‘barren’ wife to marry another ‘productive’ / fertile woman. This is also a reason to divorce his wife or having a polygamy marriage.

That's why I said that a man could marry more than once, (read it on my virginity forum #1) especially if he didn't have a SON, because in my place, a son is still more appreciated than a daughter.

That is a sad situation that she is considered barren and he could leave like that.Do they not
have firtility doctors over there? I was unable to conceive and didn't know why until going to a
very good fertility Doctor in Hawaii who ran all kind of test only to find out that my husband had a low sperm count due to a childhood illness.
After trying different fertility drugs we finally got the right one, not permitted to name the drug but it was the answer for us. So after 5 years of marriage we had a beautiful little girl.
But from this story I would have been considered
one of those barren women.

Yeah LadyG, I was very happy after 3 weeks you're still commented me (thanks!, yes it's so sad that many men still hold the old 'patrilineal' belief that "A SON is IMPORTANT", more than a daughter... Especially in Muslim countries and some Asian, too, a son is still considered as the one who runs the family, not the daughter. As a firstborn I have to be as strong as a boy, too, to be the one to run my family.

Hi Raj, thanks for your opinion. I know that the situation in India is almost the same as here... I hope that you'll have a family and your own children, as soon as possible, I pray for that. Just do your best. Remember that love is the most important aspect.
